At 2 a.m. this morning, most areas across the country reverted back to standard time. This changeover signals the start of longer winter days. Fire departments also encourage residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors when they change their clocks.
Daylight Saving Time is not observed in some states and U.S. territories such as Hawaii, Arizona, and the Virgin Islands, for example.
