1. The National Weather Service is asking local residents to be careful and stay cool today as the heat index is expected to reach 106. It's expected to be hot and sunny today with a high of 100. Be sure to keep pets in cool, air-conditioned places and do not leave them inside cars. Also check on elderly neighbors to make sure they are keeping cool.

2. l is hosting its 'sneak peak' for parents and students to meet teachers and drop off supplies. The event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

3. - If you haven't tried this awesome and creative event, there's no time like the present. Today Creatively Yours offers 2 or 3 hour instructor-led jewelry making, canvas and glass painting classes. These classes have a featured painting daily that is taught by a talented instructor. All art supplies are included, and students provide their own eats and drinks! .

4. is hosting its ever popular trivia night tonight at 8 p.m. with $10 pitchers of beer. Grab and friend and go on over.
