Hotel Employee Suspected Of Shooting His Co-Worker In The Head

This week's Brookhaven police blotter includes liquor store theft, wanted person located, burglaries and thefts.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- From June 17-23, Brookhaven police responded to 2,319 calls which included 139 incident reports, 154 citations, and 42 arrests. Here's a sampling:

Sunday, June 23 – commercial burglary, 3800 block of Peachtree Road. An alarm at a liquor store alerted police, who found the entrance door pried open. Video footage showed two males enter the location, go directly to the cabinet that contained high-end liquor, and break the glass of the cabinet with a yellow mallet. About $5,000 of liquor was stolen.

Saturday, June 22 – theft, 3200 block of Buford Highway. The victim was restocking shelves at a discount store and left her cellphone on the shelf, which was stolen by an unknown suspect. The store manager refuses to allow police to review any surveillance video.

Saturday, June 22 – theft, 2900 block of Clairmont Road. Police were called to the scene of a man who said he was shot by his boss in the parking lot of a nearby hotel. The victim had gunshot wounds to the right side of his head and just below his right breast. Police checked the hotel for the suspect, but he was not located. It has been confirmed the victim and the suspect are both employed at the same hotel.

Thursday, June 20 – stolen tag, 2800 block of Buford Highway. Officers received a license plate
reader hit for a stolen tag from Alabama as soon as the vehicle entered the city on Buford Highway. The tag was on a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The complainant who reported the tag as stolen turned out to be the father of the driver. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.

Wednesday, June 19 – wanted person located, 4200 block of Peachtree Road. Officers made
contact with a man who was laying down in front of a pet store. The man was wanted for a
probation violation and was taken to the county jail without incident.

Monday, June 17 – entering auto, 3800 block of Peachtree Road. Officers responded to an
entering auto call. The victim said shortly after midnight, his gold Cadillac DTS was
parked while he ran an errand. The victim noticed when he returned that the front passenger
side window was shattered, and items were taken, including a Dell Laptop, $9,000 in cash, and
a Coach shoulder bag. There was blood left behind at the scene by the suspect from being cut by the shattered window glass. A check in the area revealed no video surveillance.
