Marist Collects Record Amount of Blood in Recent Blood Drive

The drive consisted of mainly students.

collected a record 65 pints of blood during its blood drive last week making this year a record-breaking drive, accoring to a report on the school's website.

With more than 90 donors, most of whom were students, this year's drive surpassed that of 2008 when the school collected 63 pints of blood.

Coach  Terry Blish, the Aquatics Center Director who has organized the bi-annual drives since 2004, said that students donate blood more than three times the rate of eligible adults.

“If a single pint of blood can save up to three lives, then each year on the average our students are saving up to 300 lives by contributing at these drives,” Blish said on the site. “Working these blood drives has convinced me that there is no more generous person in this world than a Marist student.”
