Auxiliary Raises More than $300,000 for Northside Hospital

's volunteer auxiliary presented the hospital with a check of more than a quarter million dollars used to complete needed renovations and provide scholarships for students studying medicine and other health disciplines.

The presentation of the more than $349,000 was made during the auxiliary's 42nd Annual luncheon in October where the hospital paid tribute to the organization that has served the hospital and the community since 1970. The group started with 100 volunteers, and now boasts 265 active volunteers who support 30 departments, and render more than 47,000 hours of service.

“There are no limits to the extraordinary contributions made each and ever day by the volunteers of the Northside Hospital Auxiliary,” said Bob Quattrocchi, president and CEO of Northside Hospital. “They have been and remain essential to hospital’s long-standing success and we appreciate all that they do.”

Auxiliary memer and Brookhaven resident Ann Evers was recognized singularly  for 35 years of service to the Northside Hospital Auxiliary. She works an assistant to the chaplain at Northside.

The funds were used for the following:

•  Renovations to the pedestrian bridge that connects the Women’s Center parking deck to the hospital.
• A new stained-glass window in the hospital’s chapel.
• Scholarships to those interested in the medical field.
• Support programs and services for cancer patients and families in the Special Care Nurseries.
• The hospital’s Healing Sounds (music therapy) program.

“We have such a great group of volunteers, who work as a team with Northside, to bring exceptional service to our patients and visitors and I look forward to continuing that tradition," said Auxiliary presdient Gordon Jones.
