Oglethorpe CFO Named Non-Profit CFO of the Year

In just two years, Mike Horan led the university's financial turnaround

Having overhauled Oglethorpe's debt and developed a sustainable cash-flow structure to help manage the school's revenue stream, the university's chief financial officer was honored Friday as Atlanta's CFO of the Year for Nonprofits by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Association for Corporate Growth.

Mike Horan told the Chronicle that he started at the university as a part-time accounting professor, but later volunteered to help the school after he observed the university struggle with its finances.

“We have such an amazing accounting and business program here at Oglethorpe but it seemed like the business functions weren’t running smoothly. I volunteered to lend a hand and it turned into a full-time job,” he said in the article.
