ATLANTA β€” Police are expecting a large presence at a Friday morning climate strike at the Buckhead MARTA station. Last Friday, youths from around the world and across the United States staged a strike to demand an end to fossil fuels and reductions in corporate pollution and environmental destruction. While there were several events in Atlanta that day, another rally, this one called the Southeast Climate Strike and Rebellion, is set for Sept. 29 beginning at 9:30 am, and police said the gathering may impact local traffic.

The international protests came before the United Nations Climate Action Summit, which happened earlier this week. Leaders from government, business, and civil society addressed the global climate emergency.
