Armed Robber Sneaks Into SUV, Cuts Victim And Steals Necklace And Cash

An Atlanta woman said she was robbed in broad daylight outside of the Home Depot on Piedmont Road.

ATLANTA, GA – A woman shopping at the Home Depot in Buckhead was robbed at knifepoint by a man who got into her vehicle, according to reports.

Just before noon on Feb. 24, the 59-year-old Atlanta woman was leaving the home improvement store at 2525 Piedmont Road when, as she unlocked her SUV doors to load the back, a man snuck in on the passenger side and pointed a knife at her throat demanding money. The man asked for cash for bus fare and take her to the bus station saying he wanted to get out of state, according to the police incident report acquired by Patch.

When she tried to get out of the SUV, the woman said the man locked the doors.

β€œHe kept telling me he was going to kill me,” the woman told Channel 2 Action News. β€œThe fact that all of my doors unlocked, that was such an invitation.”

The woman said the man cut her hand and chest with what looked like a hunting knife after stealing her gold necklace and cash, then limped away toward Piedmont Road, according to police.

Police are investigating the incident. The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall, slender Black man who was wearing a gray hat, blue jeans jacket, white pants and black shoes, police said.
