Buckhead Approves Further Studies of Viability of 9-Acre Park Above Georgia 400

If approved, the nine-acre, half-mile-long park would cost around $190 million and sit high above the Georgia 400.

The master plan for "Buckhead Revisited" is moving forward, and an envisioned nine-acre park high above the Georgia 400 could be a part of it.

The Business Journal and NewspaperReporters.net report that, during the Oct. 5 board meeting of the Buckhead Community Improvement District (CID), further studies of the viability of the envisioned park were approved by vote.

Another 16 weeks and $340,000 have now been allocated for the study, which will examine the impacts on traffic and the local economy, and how much funding would be needed and available for the project.

The project is being called a "scaled-up" version of the one-acre park that currently sits above Fifth Street, and connects Midtown's Tech Square with the Georgia Tech campus.
