Buckhead Coalition Contributes Park Benches to Neighborhoods
The benches are part of the Coalition's ongoing celebration of its 25th anniversary.

Continuing its ongoing celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Buckhead Coalition has offered a gift of a park bench to each of the 41 Buckhead Neighborhood Associations.
Each bench will display a small plaque, which reads: “Commemorating / 25 years of civic service / Buckhead Coalition / 1988~2013”.
“Most of our neighborhoods have at least a pocket-park wherein the benches could offer a place for brief rest and reflection,” said Coalition President Sam Massell.

Massell also pointed out that “while the Coalition’s membership consists of business representatives– limited to 100 chief executive officers of major area firms– the Coalition is sensitive to the needs and interests of its neighborhoods, equal to that of the Community’s commerce and industry.”
Massell, the founding president, recalled that when the Coalition was formed in 1988, he was offered a one-year trial; he requested a three-year agreement, and they settled on a two-year contract, which was not drawn-up and delivered until 25 years later.

There simply was “more important work to be done, and we hit the ground running.”
Massell reported that there are other commemorative actions to be undertaken in celebration of the Coalition’s role in nurturing the quality of life of those who live, visit, work, and play within Buckhead’s environs, with the pinnacle having occurred at the Coalition’s Annual Luncheon Meeting this January when its selected keynoter was internationally renowned comedian Jeff Foxworthy.
