Accomplished American composer Christopher Theofanidis will join The Westminster Schools Orchestras for their concert on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, and will also be the featured guest at a special β€œMeet the Composer” event prior to the performance.

The pre-concert event, which will include an informal lecture and Q&A session, will take place at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public, do not require tickets, and will be held in Pressly Hall at The Westminster Schools.

At the evening’s performance, the Junior Chamber Orchestra (Middle School Orchestra), led by Rebecca Colborg Frederick and James Plondke, will perform the Allegretto from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and Lalo Schifrin’s Mission: Impossible Theme. The Westminster Chamber Orchestra (Upper School Orchestra), under the direction of Linda Cherniavsky and Scott Stewart, will perform the Presto from Mozart’s Divertimento No. 1 in D Major, K. 136, as well as Theofanidis’ Visions and Miracles.

β€œWelcoming Christopher Theofanidis as our special guest on campus is a wonderful opportunityβ€”not only for our students, but also for our community,” said Linda Cherniavsky, the performing arts department chair at Westminster. β€œHis music is iconic among contemporary orchestral literature, and we are thrilled to perform his Visions and Miracles as part of our fall orchestra concert.”
