Darlington Resident Says He's Being Evicted for Reporting Crime

Buckhead man posted online about attempted break-ins, now they want him out before his lease expires.

BUCKHEAD, GA -- An apartment dweller in Buckhead is using social media to shed light on what he says is an attempt by management at the Darlington to retaliate against him for reporting crimes in the building.

Je Wesley Day, a resident of the Darlington Apartments on Peachtree Street for more than a year, said that he has been the victim of attempted break-ins and his car windows have been broken into, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Fed up with the crime, he posted a flyer online, warning residents about crime in the complex.

Day shared with the AJC a letter that he said the Darlington management gave to him, detailing that he has to leave in March because "we cannot continue to tolerate such verbal and written abuse on the property."

Patch has reached out to the property manager at the Darlington but has not heard back.

Day said that the apartments just hired a new security team, but it was days after he posted a video showing what appeared to be a security guard at the apartment's front desk fast asleep.

Day said Wednesday that he still had not heard from the Darlington, but that he was preparing to take legal action. "I attained an attorney today (Warren Sams)," he told Patch.
