Diane McIver Estate Sale Set For Saturday
Amid controversy, auction of items belonging to fatally shot Buckhead businesswoman still on.
BUCKHEAD, GA -- Some of the belongings of Buckhead businesswoman Diane McIver are set for auction this weekend.
The sale, which will be handled by Ahlers and Ogletree Auction Gallery on Miami Circle in Buckhead, will feature McIver's designer purses, fur coats and plenty of diamonds and gold jewelry.
The sale is not without controversy: Diane McIver, 63, died from a gunshot wound in September after her husband, prominent Atlanta attorney Tex McIver, claimed that he accidentally shot her when he fell asleep with a gun in his lap in their SUV.

The shooting and subsequent charges have cast a pall over Tex McIver, especially the sale of his wife's items while he is still being investigated in the murder case. His attorney has reportedly said that proceeds from the sale will not go to build the accused's coffers, but to legal fees.
Meanwhile one of the proprietors of the sale spoke to local media this week about McIver's holdings.
"We're getting interest from all over the country and all over the world," owner Robert Ahlers told WGCL.
And if there's any trouble, he promises that they'll be ready. "We have security at all of our auctions. We beefed it up a little bit for this sale due to the volume of jewelry that we have," he was quoted as saying.
The sale, which runs Saturday through Monday, will feature items from other origins as well, he said.
