There was a lot of bad news in 2022. However, there was some great news, too. Which was your favorite good news story of 2022? 📰 Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

1. On Christmas Day, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department fought a structure fire on the 2900 block of Rockingham Drive Northwest. It was a two-story home that had flames coming from its basement when firefighters arrived. Although they fought valiantly, “all firefighters were instructed to exit the structure after the fire started burning through the first floor, ultimately extending through the residence's roof.” There's no word yet on what caused the blaze. (Atlanta Fire Rescue Department)
2. Saturday’s Peach Bowl might bring around 80,000 fans to the city. Playing are the Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes, and insiders expect the game to break attendance records. According to the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, hotels in and around Buckhead are filled. It’s fair to say that restaurants and retailers might also see a windfall from the influx of visitors. 3. If there’s a kitchen remodel in your future, read on! House Beautiful's Buckhead Whole Home revealed last week what’s hot for 2023. For kitchens, think “English flair” that would make a high-end chef stop in their tracks. For the main bedroom’s walk-in closet, the new gadget to have is a clothing care system “that refreshes, deodorizes and sanitizes clothing with the gentle power of steam.” (LI Herald)
4. On Thursday, Forbes released its list of the best restaurants to eat in right now. Several Buckhead favorites made the list. They include The Americano, which impressed with its “modern riffs on Italian steakhouse cuisine,” and the CHOPS Lobster Bar that – quite literally – rose from its ashes. (Forbes)
