Former E. Rivers Elementary PTA President Indicted on Theft Charges
The Buckhead woman, 48-year-old Maryam Arjomand, accused of stealing funds from the E. Rivers Elementary School PTA was indicted on Tuesday by a Fulton County Grand Jury.

The Buckhead woman accused of stealing funds from the E. Rivers Elementary School PTA was indicted on Tuesday by a Fulton County Grand Jury.
The five-count indictment handed down against 48-year-old Maryam Arjomand includes two primary charges– forgery (two counts) and theft by taking by fiduciary (three counts).
During the period between 2010 and 2012, $80,000 was stolen from the E. Rivers Elementary School PTA and the E. Rivers Education Foundation, during the time when Arjomand was president of both organizations.

An investigation showed that the funds were funneled into an unauthorized account established at a bank where Arjomand previously served as the Director of Sales and Marketing and Corporate Secretary, according to a statement from the Fulton County's District Attorney's Office.
Arjomand turned herself in April 2012 to the Atlanta Police Department's Major Fraud Unit in connection to charges that funds were stolen from the E. Rivers PTA fund, according to the APD. Arjomand was then charged with felony theft by taking.

Following this week’s indictment, the case will be assigned to a Fulton County Superior Court Judge and scheduled for trial.
