Henri's Bakery Land to be Sold, Redeveloped

The iconic Buckhead eatery is expected to remain on site once the residential tower is complete, according to a report.

A legendary Buckhead bakery is being included in developers’ plans to convert the property into a new apartment tower in the near future.

Henri’s Bakery has called 61 Irby Ave. home for over 45 years, but Alliance Residential Co. is expected to purchase the property and knock down the structures on site to make way for the new project, Atlanta Business Chronicle says.

Fortunately for gourmands everywhere, Alliance says it will include Henri’s in the development and plans to keep the bakery on the ground floor of the tower. The bakery will have a temporary home while construction occurs, the Chronicle reports.

Henri’s owner Madeline Leonard said in a statement that the business will remain open on Irby Avenue and should not be impacted in the immediate future. Leonard is the granddaughter of Henri’s founder Henri Fiscus and added in the statement that the relocation to the apartment tower will ensure her grandfather’s legacy continues on.
