Lovett School Hosts Black History Panel Discussion

'Building King's Beloved Community' will feature Marty King as panelist and an art exhibit.

BUCKHEAD, GA -- What would the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. think about the progress made in today's society? That and other thought-provoking questions will be contemplated during a Black History Month panel discussion this month at the Lovett School in Buckhead.

The event, "Building King's Beloved Community," will feature panelists Valerie Jackson, Martin Luther King III, and retired Atlanta Police Chief George Turner.

The panel will be moderated by Lovett’s Headmaster Billy Peebles.

Following the discussion, Lovett will present an exhibit called "Unity & Heritage XVI: Can You See Me Now? An Exploration of African American Identity."

The exhibit will feature works by famed photographer Joshua Rashaad McFadden, Atlanta curator Tina Dunkley and mixed media artist Charly Palmer.

The exhibit will also display important contemporary works from the Jeffrey and Sivan Hines Collection of African American Art.
