📰 2022 News Poll 📍
There was a lot of bad news in 2022. However, there was some great news, too. Which was your favorite good news story of 2022? So far, 50% like the collaboration to end plastic pollution, while 33% favor the news that Ethiopia’s civil war is over. The final 16.7% like news of a new malaria vaccine.

📰 Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. A rumor circulating about a shooting at 1280 West Paces Ferry Road is wrong. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) released an accuracy alert on Tuesday, correcting rumors of “a carjacking turned deadly” or that a car chase ended with officers shooting a suspect. What did happen is that a man died in his car on Monday in that general area, and the police responded. “There are no indications of criminal activity leading to the man's death, and we are awaiting the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.” (APD)
  2. Tom Asher, “a fourth-generation Atlantan, businessman and community leader” died on Sunday at the age of 86. On Tuesday, his memorial was held at The Temple on Peachtree Street. Described as a “cornerstone of Atlanta’s non-profit and philanthropic community,” he is most vividly remembered for his longtime involvement in the Rich Foundation. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution/paywall)
  3. If you have $10.9 million, you can own an English Regency-style show property at 389 Blackland Road NW. For this money, you get six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and the results of the work by 21 designers. It has a four-car garage as well as a private study and a library “with (a) conservatory-like bay.” It’s a gorgeous Tuxedo Park home. (Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s, 2)
  4. When you visit the Buckhead Branch of the Georgia Public Library Service, what can you check out? Sure, there are plenty of books. However, we learned on Wednesday that anyone possessing a library card can also access “virtual reality headsets, 3D printing, and even typewriters.” Why not head over to 269 Buckhead Avenue Northeast, and see what they have?
