📰 Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. The push for Buckhead’s cityhood continues. A Tuesday report outlines that the CEO of the Buckhead City Committee (BCC) believes “rampant crime in the neighborhood can only be solved by Buckhead becoming its own city with its own police force.” However, critics say that the failure to achieve cityhood this year can be traced back to his “personal attacks on social media against Mayor Andre Dickens and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.” For the folks from the Committee for a United Atlanta, the matter was put to bed during the midterm elections. (Reporter Newspapers)
  2. Calling gun violence a disease, the conversation continues about what it will take to prevent violent crimes that involve children. "The disease of violence doesn't care if you are a bad parent, it doesn't care if you live in Buckhead or Bankhead, it is infecting these kids at an early stage," said a representative of Brothers for Brothers on Monday. Atlanta City Council Member Byron Amos acknowledges that the problem has festered for a while but is now “an issue that is coming to the forefront.” (Fox)
  3. Robert De Niro is a backer for Nobu Matsuhisa’s eponymous Japanese restaurant in Buckhead. Located at 3520 Peachtree Road Northeast, the outpost's signature dishes revolve around seafood. The restaurant has 272 seats, and also offers new dishes for those already hip to the black cod with miso. Examples include “grilled baby gem salad with tofu hummus and baked Alaska with guava gelato, vanilla cheesecake, ginger cinnamon crumble, guava gel, meringue, and bourbon flambé.” (Atlanta Magazine)
  4. Did you know that the newly opened Life Time Buckhead at Phipps Plaza is an anchor destination for the location? One of its desirable amenities is the “rooftop beach club with breathtaking views,” a first for the city. Another part of Phipps Plaza is a coworking destination that turns the development into the perfect balance of work and play. The athletic country club debuted on December 8. (PR Newswire)
  5. Do you worry about view corridors? One frequent Atlanta visitor is of the opinion that the 18-floor Dillon project creates a wall that takes away the view “of the Midtown/downtown skyline as you’re driving south downhill.” He goes on to bemoan “the loss of the view from Buckhead.” Of course, he is fair in terming his insight a first-world problem. Or is he? (Atlanta Urbanize)
