📰 Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. Stabbing suspect update: We learned on Tuesday that the 23-year-old suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 77-year-old Buckhead resident “had multiple prior run-ins with the law.” His rap sheet includes a felony shoplifting charge in 2019, “carrying a concealed weapon and drug possession” in 2020, and a subsequent charge of “aggravated assault and simple assault.” “Channel 2 Action News has also heard reports that (the suspect) was involved with other incidents, including a robbery at a liquor store.” Meanwhile, the man waived a Tuesday court appearance. Detectives are investigating if he targeted the resident. (WSB)
  2. A dog running loose attacked a leashed 10-pound poodle mix in Chastain Park at 140 Chastain Park Avenue Northwest. Trying to save her dog, the pet’s owner looked up to see “the owner of the vicious dog watching.” We learned Wednesday that additional incidents involved a dog fitting the description, a “Lab mix, but it had dark markings.” (WSB)
  3. Buckhead’s Heartis is on the Senior Housing News list of Architecture & Design Awards! Wednesday’s announcement explained that “communities across the country and globe submitted new construction and renovation projects this year.” Citing “bold creativity” as a hallmark of its winners, Heartis, at 2051 Peachtree Road Northeast, earned second place in the CCRC/LPC Lite category, which focuses on independent living, assisted living and memory care. (Senior Housing News)
  4. The Blue Heron Nature Preserve at 4055 Roswell Road is making news! A Wednesday piece outlined how the outgoing artist in residence, ceramic artist K. Tauches, spent time exploring its rivers and creeks because they “hold onto a lot of energy and history.” In the process, she “collected materials such as reeds, glass from the beaches of the creek, and even modern pottery shards that ended up mixed in with the sand and silt.” Now, she is using insights and collected items to influence her work. (Reporter Newspapers)
  5. The Center for Puppetry Arts at 1404 Spring Street Northwest invites you to visit its performance of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The show is based on the 1964 television special. What makes this set of performances special is the inclusivity of the artists. On December 11, an American Sign Language interpreter will be present at the 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. shows. If you're looking for a way your children can enjoy the puppets from home, sign up for the Online Puppet Playdate on December 17. (Center for Puppetry)
