Atlanta entrepreneur and 2012 University of Georgia graduate John Martin is the one who put Georgia on the mind of Sweet Charlie's founders. The Virginia-Highland resident stumbled upon rolled ice cream during a summer vacation last year with his wife. He's been smitten ever since.

“Sweet Charlie’s combines the art of making rolled ice cream with modern American showmanship to create a one-of-a-kind experience for all ages,” Martin said in a statement. “The best part is, it tastes delicious.”

The shop was founded by 19-year-old Kyle Billig and his 21-year-old brother Jacob, who hail from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, just outside Philadelphia. The story goes that when Kyle discovered a Youtube video of a Thai street vendor making ice cream on a cold plate in less than 2 minutes, he was hooked.

“We’re incredibly excited to debut our first Sweet Charlie’s franchise in Atlanta,” Kyle Billig said in a news release. “For us, it’s not just about serving ice cream; it’s about creating a revolution through new ways of making ice cream and flavors that customers love.”
