The shop was founded by 19-year-old Kyle Billig and his 21-year-old brother Jacob, who hail from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, just outside Philadelphia. The story goes that when Kyle discovered a Youtube video of a Thai street vendor making ice cream on a cold plate in less than 2 minutes, he was hooked.
βWeβre incredibly excited to debut our first Sweet Charlieβs franchise in Atlanta,β Kyle Billig said in a news release. βFor us, itβs not just about serving ice cream; itβs about creating a revolution through new ways of making ice cream and flavors that customers love.β

βIn Philadelphia, people stand in line in the freezing cold for our rolled ice cream. Since Atlantans enjoy warmer temperatures throughout the year, weβre hoping thatβs even better for business!β Steve Billig, the company's chief financial officer, said. βWe look forward to being very involved throughout the development and launch of the first Sweet Charlieβs franchise in Atlanta, cutting the ribbon on opening day and meeting our newest customers.β
