The Galloway School Honored its Own at Black History Harvest Awards
The Galloway School's Black History Harvest Awards recognized those individuals who labor continuously and whose efforts sustain and inspire the human spirit.
This year, The Galloway School held its annual Black History Harvest Awards ceremony on Thursday, March 21st at the school theater from 7-9 p.m.Β The Galloway Black History Harvest Awards "seek to recognize those individuals who labor continuously and whose efforts sustain and inspire the human spirit," according to the school's website.
Every year, the Galloway Black History Committee invites students and their school family to attend the Black History Harvest Awards as they honor an individual from the Atlanta community, a member of the Galloway community, and a Galloway student.
This year, the committee honored Dr. Tiffany Simpkins Russell, who is an educator in Atlanta and has led many teacher courses and parent workshops about inclusivity and diversity.

According to the Galloway website, the persons who were also honored include:
Galloway Community Award: Teacher Elizabeth Chapman, Librarian Marcia Kochel, and Galloway parent Jennifer Henn

Galloway Student Award: 8th grader Kiry Bates in honor of her work in furthering the mission of the Somaly Mam foundation, and encouraging her peers to actively confront the realities of human trafficking.
Special Alumni Recognition: Given to Tshepo Masango ChΓ©ry '99, a postdoctoral fellow at the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies.
