Volunteers Needed: Help out with BINGO Night, Create Art with Hospitalized Children

Want to do something worthwhile with your free time? Did you make a New Year's resolution to give back to your community? Here are opportunities for you to make a difference in Buckhead:

• Come help out with Buckhead Health & Rehabilitation's BINGO Night on Wednesday from 6:30-8 p.m. Get details.

• Share and create art with a child by volunteering with the Kashi Atlanta Arts Program. Kashi Atlanta educates and provides relief to all members of the community based on the yogic principles of health and healing, meditation and inner growth, and compassion and community service. Volunteers are needed to assist hospitalized children as they create arts & crafts projects. Full details here.

• Open Hand is looking for help with meal delivery. Volunteers may deliver individually or in groups. Volunteers use their own vehicles to deliver meals out in the community. Open Hand provides extremely detailed driving directions and a 30-minute delivery training. Although this volunteer opportunity is available almost any day, the greatest need is on weekends. • Ahisma House is looking for animal lovers to provide temporary safe homes for the pets of domestic violence victims. These pet foster parents will be provided with food, medication and veterinary care. Sign up here and show love to a pet in need. Ahisma is also looking for volunteers to answer their 24-hour crisis hotline for domestic violence victims concerned about their pets' safety. • Handy with Websites? Communities in Schools of Atlanta need a volunteer to help maintain its website and help manage image files and prepare them for publishing on the CIS of Atlanta website. A familiarity with image files, formats, and properties is desired.  Specific web design and/or web maintenance skills are not required. Commitment of about two to five hours each week; three to six month commitment preferred. Details.

• Tutor first-generation students: LaAmistad After School Tutoring is for volunteers that wish to tutor Latino and other first generation students in grades first through eighth on the first Wednesday of each month. Volunteers will help students with homework, projects and reading from 4-5:30 pm.. Students are divided into classrooms by grade, with six to 10 students in each classroom and two to three volunteers per classroom. Get details and get started.
