📰 Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) is investigating a shooting at 1769 Cheshire Bridge Road Northeast. The shooting happened Tuesday, close to 6:10 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. Reportedly, “the victim was involved in a dispute earlier with two males that escalated to her using pepper spray.” She called the APD and reported them. When she saw the men again, she told them of the report she filed and wanted to drive away “when she heard multiple shots being fired and realized she was struck.” (APD)
  2. Did police catch the prolific "Peachtree Street Business Burglar"? We learned on Wednesday that earlier this month, an officer apprehended a 59-year-old suspect who was responsible for a burglary nearby. The suspect went to the Fulton County Jail. It’s interesting to note that he has “32 previous arrest cycles, including charges of robbery, obstruction, theft, parole and probation violations and more than 30 previous burglary charges.” (Atlanta Police Department)
  3. Could your neighborhood be affected by string zoning? A year ago, there was talk about increasing density in residential areas. “The proposed ordinances, criticized by residents and neighborhood groups, died in committee.” Last week, we read that string zoning is being considered. “It's important that we have the tools we need to be able to implement the plans that we have,” the planning commissioner said. Drafting time for the new ordinance is early 2023, and if you want a seat at the table, attend meetings held on January 17, February 28 and April 13. (Atlanta Business Chronicle)
  4. Respite Care Atlanta at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church’s youth center is in the news! As of Tuesday, volunteers work with 22 members who struggle with “early to mid-stage dementia or cognitive disorder.” If we have piqued your idea in volunteering at the location, the organization would love to hear from you. Whether you have one hour or several, there is always something to do. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution/paywall)
  5. Where can you get a bite to eat on Christmas? Botica at 1820 Peachtree Road Northwest will welcome guests on Christmas Day. The eatery will be “serving its regular menu of delightful brunch and lunch dishes, as well as tasty cocktails.” Another option is Pasha at 631 Miami Circle Northeast. This one’s a great option for Christmas Day dinner with “Mediterranean dishes and amazing cocktails.” (Access Atlanta)
