15-Year-Old Girl Hit By Box Truck While Walking: Cherokee Sheriff

A 15-year-old girl was hospitalized after a box truck hit her and kept going, according to Cherokee deputies.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — A 15-year-old girl was hit by a box truck in a hit-and-run Monday, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim was hospitalized after suffering serious injuries, deputies said. The hit-and-run occurred just before 3:15 p.m. on Bells Ferry Road when she was walking across the street. According to police, the driver didn’t stop.

The girl was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Scottish Rite Hospital.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office released an image of the suspected vehicle, which appears to be a white box truck.
