  1. Cherokee County officials announced multiple upcoming lane closures to accommodate several projects connected to the county's 2022 Resurfacing Project. Beginning tomorrow, Aug. 21, Arnold Mill Road from SR 140 to Barnes Road will have lane closures in effect between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. From Monday, Aug. 22, to Friday, Aug. 26, Kellogg Creek Road from Jacobs Road to Cedar Mill Crossing will also have lane closures between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Cherokee County, Georgia via Facebook)
  2. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating an ATV that was stolen from nearby Acworth on Monday. Officials say the green 2006 Yamaha Kodiak was stolen from the area of Bells Ferry Road and Kellogg Creek Road. Anyone with information that could help recover the vehicle is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 770-928-0239. (Cherokee Sheriff’s Office - Georgia via Facebook)

An Atlanta man has been indicted in connection with a string of thefts from vehicles in Cherokee County in 2019. 19-year-old Cordovas Tucker is also accused of driving a vehicle toward a Canton Police Department officer and breaking into a local home. Tucker's arraignment is currently scheduled for Aug. 22. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger News)

  5. The City of Canton will keep its tax rate at a historic low of 5.4 mills, according to a statement issued by Mayor Bill Grant earlier this week. Despite the low rate, the 2023 budget includes increases in benefits and the minimum starting wage for city employees. City officials have also planned several capital projects for the fiscal year, including sidearm enhancements for the Canton Police Department and a booster pump station at Canton-Cherokee Industrial Park.
