These top students were recognized, through the 18th Annual Superintendent’s Key Scholar Recognition Ceremony, for scores achieved on the PSAT that rank them in the top 10% nationwide.

“Through Key Scholars, we recognize some of our brightest students and their dedication to academic success,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “We know this achievement would not be accomplished without the hard work of these students and the excellent instruction and guidance provided by our outstanding teachers. The School Board and I look forward to this event and celebrating with our Scholars’ families, who are so proud and do so much to support their student’s success. Congratulations and best wishes as you continue your learning!”

Each honoree received an embroidered “Key Scholar” letter-jacket patch, pen and keychain as part of the districtwide academic recognition program. Students who scored at the 95th percentile or greater on the PSAT in their sophomore of junior year received additional recognition and will receive a special cord to wear at their graduation ceremony.

The Key Scholar program costs are sponsored by Cobb EMC and LGE Community Credit Union, CCSD Partners, and representatives from both organizations gave remarks during the program. The program, which was held at Cherokee High School, also featured a performance by the school’s Madrigals choral group directed by teacher Brad Ellis.
