1. Georgia's Public Service Commission (PSC) approved state utility Georgia Power's 2022 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which will deploy more renewables and energy storage technology and strengthen the state's network of transmission lines and grid infrastructure. PSC also approved Georgia Power's request to own and operate McGrau Ford Battery facility, a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Cherokee County. (Energy Storage News)
2. The Netflix show Ozark's water scenes were filmed at Lake Allatoona in Canton. The Little River Marina at Lake Allatoona was also used for both interior and exterior shots of the family's new home in the first few episodes. (Gwinnett Daily Post)
3. Heart and Vascular Care in Canton is on Castle Connolly's Top Doctors list and Georgia Trends 2022 Top Doctor's list. The Canton-based Cardiology practice has been on the Top Doctor's list for over ten years. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
4. This summer, Cherokee County School District student Ryan Weber earned a National Award of Merit for his photograph "Dying World" in the 2021-22 National PTA Reflections fine arts contest.
