  1. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services is investigating a fire in the crawlspace of a home in Cherokee County. Residents were alerted by by a smoke alarm. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
  2. A woman, who was detained in the jail in Canton during 2019 and 2020, has filed a lawsuit against Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds and several other officers who worked at the detention center. According to the lawsuit, the deputy threatened to kill the female inmate after raping her. (Macon Telegraph)
  3. Around 16 states, including Georgia, plan to offer child tax credits or enact deductions for households with underage dependents. Georgia grants $3,000 for unborn children. Georgia residents who have an unborn child with a detectable heartbeat between Jul. 20 and Dec. 31 can register their fetuses as dependents on tax returns and receive a rebate. (Marca English)
