Explosion, Fire Leads To 2 Injured At Canton Business

CANTON, GA — Two people were burned Monday after a fire and explosion at a Univeter Road business, the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said.

Fire crews responded around 4 p.m. to Carmichael Development, where they said a dump truck and Conex trailer were on fire. The outer surface of Carmichael's structure had also caught fire, officials said.

During the incident, fire officials said crews turned their attention toward diesel gas that spilled onto the ground.

Two people suffered varying degrees of burns and were treated at Grady Memorial Hospital, fire officials said. Their relation to the business was unknown.

It is unknown what led to the fire, and specific details of the explosion were not immediately known.
