  1. On Jul. 28, a fire severely damaged a house in the area of Green Circle and Ball Ground Highway near Canton. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services is investigating the cause of a fire. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
  2. After a dog severely bit their 10-year-old daughter, the Swann family of Coweta County wants a dangerous dog policy like Canton's policy. Canton, Georgia requires vicious dogs to be registered, specifies an annual $1,000 fee for vicious dogs, requires a $1 million liability insurance policy to cover any damage or injury a dog might cause, specifies a fence around the year, and a specific type of enclosure to house the dog. Canton also requires that dogs be euthanized if they have caused serious injuries to people on more than one occasion since Jul. 1, 2012. (Newnan Times-Herald)
  3. Cherokee County Senior Services and Stand Up for Seniors will host a hot dog fundraiser on Aug. 26 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cherokee County Senior Center, located at 1001 Univeter Road in Canton.   4. The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) named Jason Quinn as the Arnold Mill Elementary School 2022 Volunteer of the Year. Quinn made a positive difference in CCSD schools as a dependable volunteer. (Canton-Sixes Patch)
  5. On Jul. 28, the American Legion Post 45, located in Canton, hosted an award ceremony for Community Service Awards for First Responders within Cherokee County.
