Ga. 140 Corridor Project Meeting On Jan. 24
The city of Canton will host the meeting to allow residents to provide feedback about what improvements are needed along the highway.

CANTON, GA — The city of Canton will hold a meeting to provide an overview of a project to improve traffic along Ga. 140. The public input meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 in the auditorium at Canton City Hall.
The State Route 140 Corridor meeting will introduce the project, which spans Waleska Road from Riverstone Parkway to the entrances of the Great Sky and Laurel Canyon neighborhoods.
City staff members will provide background information, what problems its working to solve and, of course, seek your input on what Canton should consider. Canton is exploring various options, including access management and operational and intersection improvements, that could improve traffic flow along the highway.

According to a corridor study conducted by Atkins, the city's consultant on the project, some short-term options would be upgrading the traffic signal at the Ga. 140-Riverstone intersection and extending the right-turn lane on Ga. 140 southbound at Riverstone Parkway. Other short-term options that could be considered include allowing only right-in, right-out traffic to Hospital Road and improving the sidewalk along Reinhardt College Parkway.
In the future, Canton could consider improving the Ga. 140 intersections at Shoal Creek Road and Hospital Road, widening Ga. 140 from Riverstone Parkway to the neighborhood entrances or installing dual left-turn lanes from Riverstone Parkway to Waleska Road/Ga. 140.
