Man Sought In Organized Retail Crimes In Cherokee, Metro ATL

Warrants in several Georgia counties, Louisiana and New Jersey have been taken out against the 50-year-old man, Cherokee authorities say.

CANTON, GA — Authorities say they are searching for a 50-year-old man being accused in a string of organized retail crime incidents in Cherokee County and metro Atlanta.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on Thursday said George Frank Mayo is being sought, and authorities accused him of having a history of violence.

Mayo also has a history of obstructing law enforcement and may flee if confronted, authorities said. They added he was last seen fleeing from Chattanooga, Tennessee authorities on Oct. 6, 2023.

Authorities said warrants were taken out against Mayo in Cherokee, Gwinnett, Cook, Douglas, Forsyth, Cobb, Hall, Fulton and DeKalb counties. He also faces warrants in Baton Rouge and Lafayette Parrish in Louisiana, and also in New Jersey.

Mayo was described by authorities as having brown eyes, standing at 6 feet tall, weighing 210 pounds and having tattoos on both arms, chest and back. Authorities said he has a scar on his arm.
