- Monkeypox testing and vaccines are now available through the Cherokee County Health Department. Testing is available at no cost to residents by appointment and is only recommended for people experiencing symptoms of monkeypox, which include fever, headache, respiratory symptoms, and rash. Due to a limited number of doses, vaccines are available online by appointment only for people who are currently eligible for the vaccine. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger News)
- This Saturday, Aug. 20, volunteers from Keep Cherokee Beautiful are hosting a Bells Ferry Road Community Cleanup Event. The roadside cleanup will begin at 9:00 a.m. and cover sections of roadway from Towne Lake Parkway to Victoria Road. To register as a volunteer and learn more, email cleancherokee@gmail.com. - Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services is accepting applications for entry-level firefighters now through Oct. 10. Work in this position will involve performing fire and rescue procedures and will be performed in a training capacity under direct supervision. No previous experience is required.
