- Yesterday, Aug. 3, Gov. Brian Kemp announced the continuation of the Georgia gasoline tax break for the third time. Georgia will continue to suspend its state fuel tax through Sep. 12. (Georgia Recorder)
- On Tuesday, Aug. 9, a portion of Sixes Road at Nesbit Drive will be closed to traffic at 10:00 a.m. for about 15 minutes. According to the Cherokee County EMA, the closure is due to Georgia Power pulling an electrical cable across the area. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
- The 2022 Canton Farmers Market Pie Contest is on Saturday, Aug. 13. The three categories are Youth Under 18, Adult, and Professional. The winner of each category will compete at the Cherokee Pie Finals in Woodstock. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A Cherokee County School District (CCSD) school earned two national awards. Liberty Elementary School won two 2022 Promising Practices awards in recognition of its character education programs. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger News)
- Work Source Georgia and Goodwill of North Georgia are hosting a Job Fair and Career Expo at R.T. Jones Memorial Library on Wednesday, Aug. 10. From 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., there will be a Continuing Education Possibilities Workshop and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., there will be a Job Fair. (Sequoyah Library Calendar)

- Weather permitting, two roads along Highway 20 will be closed this weekend while crews work to shift traffic to the new lanes as part of the Highway 20 widening project. Scott Road will be closed near Highway 20 from Friday, Aug. 5 at 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8. Northside Cherokee Boulevard will also be closed at its intersection with Highway 20 beginning Friday, Aug. 5 at 9:00 p.m., and will remain closed up to 30 days. (Facebook)
