Older Woman Killed In Cherokee Crash

A semi-truck hit a car that was attempting to make a left turn, killing an 81-year-old Cherokee County woman.

CANTON, GA — An 81-year-old Canton woman is dead after authorities say a Lexus was hit by a semi-truck Monday at Cumming Highway and Soleil Parkway.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday said the fatal crash happened around 5:45 p.m.

The Lexus was headed east on Cumming, attempting to turn left onto Soleil when it was hit by the semi-truck going westbound, authorities said. The Lexus did not yield to the tractor-trailer, authorities said.

The Lexus' passenger, Bonnie Moore, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the Lexus was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The semi-truck driver was not injured in the crash, authorities said.

Speed and impairment were not factors, authorities said.
