Here are the top five stories in Canton-Sixes today:

  1. The Canton Police Department announced that 20-year-old Jacob Huckaby, the suspect in the Jun. 21 killing of William Watkins, is in custody in Calhoun County, Alabama. Huckaby is being charged with one count of malicious murder. It is not clear if he will be extradited to Georgia as of Jul. 10. (11 Alive)
  2. Friday night, Jul. 8, and Saturday morning, Jul. 9, storms left some damage in Cherokee County. In Woodstock, the severe wind blew a tree into a home and a tree knocked down some power lines on Bells Ferry Road. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  3. Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton was named in the top 15 percent of hospitals in the United States for outstanding patient experience. Healthgrades, a company that provides information on hospitals, doctors and other healthcare providers, created the list based on patient surveys. (Daily Citizen)
  4. The Service League of Cherokee County is hosting its 38th Annual Riverfest on Sep. 24 and Sep. 25. There will be vendors, entertainers, arts and crafts, and more at Etowah River Park, located at 600 Brown Industrial Parkway in Canton. (Service League)
