Truck Driver Accused Of Hitting 15-Year-Old Girl In Cherokee County Arrested: Reports

A driver accused of hitting a 15-year-old girl crossing the street has been arrested.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department arrested a man accused of a hit-and-run where a 15-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured, according to multiple reports.

The girl was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering serious injuries, deputies said. The hit-and-run occurred just before 3:15 p.m. on Bells Ferry Road when she was walking across the street. According to police, the driver didn't stop.

Adrian Perez Luis, 27, of Forest Park, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his job and charged with felony hit and run, serious injury by vehicle and distracted driving, WSB-TV reported.

Investigators told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they believe Luis was typing an address into his GPS when he hit the girl. Luis is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $17,580 bond.
