Woodstock Man Killed By Fallen Tree During Storm In Canton ID'd

The man's family told media he was returning home with food when a tree fell onto his car during Tuesday's storms in Canton.

CANTON, GA — The 27-year-old man who was killed earlier this week after a tree fell on his car during severe storms was identified as Levi Benjamin Wilson, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.

The storms happened Tuesday, when a downed tree landed on Wilson's car while it was moving along Vaughn Road, authorities previously said. The fatal crash happened around 7:45 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they found Wilson dead inside of the car, authorities previously said. No one else was inside of the vehicle at the time, authorities said.

Wilson was a triplet, his family told Atlanta News First. At the time of the Canton crash, he was returning home to his family with food, the news outlet reported.

A witness, who offered assistance, told the TV outlet the crash was a "freak accident."

The storms Tuesday were part of a series of storms expected to roll through Georgia during the next several days. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to pour into the Peach State each day through next Thursday.
