2 Women Fist Fight Over $24 Loan: Cartersville Crime

Theft of sunglasses from a guy getting a piercing, open container and battery are just a few of the crimes reported by Cartersville Police.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Cartersville Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in the city. Arrests do not equal convictions.

  • A 39-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of battery after she was accused of punching and pulling the hair of a woman who owed her $24 after a loan given one or two days previously. The woman who borrowed the money was left with a bloody nose, according to the police report. She told the borrower she did not have the money to pay back, the report said. The altercation happened at the 1400 block of Joe Frank Harris Parkway at the Parkway North motel on April 27.
  • A 47-year-old man was arrested on charges of driving without a valid license, open container violation beer/ale/Porter/stout/other similar beverages and defective tires, April 28. The arrest happened at Cassville Road SE and N. Erwin Street. According to the police report, the man refused to answer questions as to the alcohol he may have consumed or
    complete any field sobriety evaluations. An open 18 ounce aluminum can of Coors lite was in the floor board area of the passenger side, the report said. The can was partially full and cool to the touch.
  • A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft by taking from a building,
    Artistic Persuasions, located at E. Main Street in Cartersville, April 27. A man was in the middle of a body piercing when another man came in to see about getting a piercing, according to the police report. Witnesses told police the man did not get a piercing but left the store and took the guy's sunglasses who was getting a piercing. The victim said they were limited edition Ray Bans that were gold framed and looked like aviator glasses. The man told police they were polarized sunglasses that he had gotten for approximately $50. Originally, the victim told police he did not want to press charges, when he was to get the sunglasses back, however, when police told the victim the sunglasses were now in pieces, the man decided to press charges.
