• Georgia Power gets PSC's go-ahead on $16B data center power plant expansion (ajc.com) — Georgia Power just won approval for a massive $16 billion power expansion that includes new gas-burning units at Plant Bowen near Cartersville, potentially shaping local jobs, air quality, and future power bills. Regulators say data centers will help hold rates down, but consumer and environmental groups warn residents could still face higher costs and more fossil-fuel pollution over time.
   

• Canes, Colonels earn Top Ten spots in final football polls (bartowsportszone.com) — Cartersville High’s Hurricanes capped a 12-1 season by earning a No. 5 final statewide ranking in Class 4A, with some polls putting them as high as fourth. Cass High’s Colonels also cracked the top ten, landing ninth or tenth in major rankings, highlighting a strong year for Bartow County football.
   

• Merrimack Anheuser-Busch plant to close after 55 years (nhbr.com) — Cartersville’s Anheuser-Busch brewery is one of the company’s remaining U.S. plants that will absorb production after the long-running Merrimack, New Hampshire facility closes in early 2026. The shutdown will relocate some of Merrimack’s roughly 475 affected workers to other breweries, including Cartersville, potentially bringing additional jobs and production volume into the local operation.
