8,000 Vote Early in Bartow County

Nearly 15 percent of Bartow's approximate 60,000 registered voters had cast ballots Monday following two weeks of early or advance voting ahead of the Nov. 6 general election.

In addition to a presidential race featuring Democratic President Barack Obama against Republican challenger Mitt Romney, locals are set to help Georgia decide on Amendment #1, which would restore the state's power to approve charter schools and their funding. Cartersville and Bartow residents . 

Elections officials say they received 7,576 early, in-person ballots from Oct. 17 to 27, and another 652 during Saturday voting this past weekend. With a total of more than 8,200 early votes, about 13 or 14 percent of Bartow's registered voters have already cast ballots, and early voting isn't over yet.

In Cartersville, advance voting continues through Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Bartow County Elections and Voter Registration Office and the Cartersville Civic Center.
