Appointments and Tax Collection on Council Agenda
The Cartersville City Council meets tonight at 7 after a work session at 6.

The Cartersville City Council will decide tonight whether to join forces with the state Department of Revenue in an effort to collect more taxes.
The city has been selected to work with the Georgia Department of Revenue to make sure businesses pay their state sales tax. The city will provide the Department of Revenue with information about occupation license applications.
That information will be cross-checked with the state data to determine whether local businesses are paying the state sales tax.

City Manager Sam Grove recommends that the council pass a resolution to put the process in motion.
"This will hopefully allow the related entities and the state to compare information and collect more sales tax for all entities involved," he said.
