Smoking, Obesity Put Bartow at 51st Healthiest County in Georgia
The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation released its third annual health study Tuesday.

A study released today ranks Bartow as the 51st healthiest Georgia county, compared to metro-Atlanta counties, including Cobb and Cherokee, which are some of the healthiest in the state.
The rankings, published by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, allow more than 3,000 counties and the District of Columbia to compare how healthy their residents are and how long they live.
In "Health Factors," which includes smoking, drinking and other behaviors, social and economic factors, and the physical environment, Bartow ranked 51st of the 156 in Georgia. In the 2011 study, Bartow fell below nearby Paulding, Fulton and other area metro Atlanta counties, and above Polk County.
