  1. Cartersville is ready to celebrate Independence Day with a dazzling parade set to begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jul. 4, hosted by WBHF and the Rotary Club of Etowah. The excitement continues at Dellinger Park, where a community-wide extravaganza featuring children's activities, top-tier entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks display will take place from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Residents and visitors are encouraged to mark their calendars for what promises to be an unforgettable day of festivities. 2. Shreesh Tiwari, a former hotel owner in Bartow County, has pleaded guilty to trafficking charges related to coercing labor and sexual acts from women he employed. He exploited vulnerable women by promising them housing, pay, and legal help to regain custody of their children, but instead coerced them into sexual acts under threat of eviction and reporting their drug use. Tiwari is set to be sentenced on Sept. 6 and faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and over $40,000 in restitution to the victims (WSB-TV)
  3. A fisherman in Bartow County made history by reeling in a gargantuan longnose gar from Lake Allatoona, potentially the largest to be caught in the lake. The colossal catch measured almost 5 feet in length and tipped the scales at 27 pounds and 4 ounces, which shattered the previous lake record by 15 pounds. Officials confirmed that the fish was just a few pounds shy of the state record, which stands at 31 pounds and 2 ounces. (WSB-TV)
