Cartersville Contracts With Floyd County For Inmate Labor

For $237,777, Cartersville will get three full-time and one part-time inmate crews to contract with the public works department and parks.

CARTERSVILLE, GA - The Cartersville City Council voted this week to approve a contract with Floyd County for four inmate work details.

For $237,777, the city will get three full-time and one part-time crews to contract with the public works department and parks and recreation, according to the Daily Tribune News.

Each work crew will have a maximum of eight inmates, with Floyd County also agreeing to provide non-security officer training to City employees “on issues surrounding inmate labor details as approved by the Georgia Department of Corrections.”

The agreement expires on Dec. 31, 2022. The expense is listed as a budgeted item for both Cartersville’s recreation and public works departments.
