  1. The manager of a Cartersville hotel, Shreesh Tiwari, has pleaded guilty to trafficking one of his employees at the Budgetel Motel. The victim, who had faced various challenges including homelessness and drug addiction, was promised assistance by Tiwari in regaining custody of her child. However, instead, he allegedly subjected her to monitoring, eviction, sexual exploitation and threats of reporting her drug use to the authorities. Tiwari has agreed to pay restitution and may face up to 20 years in prison plus a substantial fine when he is sentenced on Sep. 6. (Atlanta News First)
  2. National Hop A Park Day is happening this Saturday, Jul. 1, encouraging people to visit and enjoy their local parks. Suggestions for celebrating include visiting local parks like Dellinger Park, Sam Smith Park, Rotary Park, Clarence Benham Park or Deerfield Park.
