Cartersville Man Points Gun At Officers, Leading To 6-Hour SWAT Standoff: Police
Cartersville officers were conducting a welfare check, when they encountered a man who they say pointed a gun at them.
CARTERSVILLE, GA — A 27-year-old man was arrested during a six-hour standoff after police say he pointed a gun at two officers who were performing a safety check Thursday at a Cartersville apartment.
Officers arrived around noon to the Main Street Market Place home after someone requested a welfare check, Cartersville Police said.
Police said once the officers came into contact with resident Jonathan Sentell, he brandished a gun and pointed it at them. He then went back into his apartment and did not comply with commands, police said.

A SWAT team was activated, and a six-hour standoff ensued, police said. Eventually, Sentell was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, police said.
Bartow County Jail records showed Sentell was being held without bond on Friday.
