Police Identify Cartersville Man Killed In Crash

A Chevrolet Cobalt left the roadway, struck some trees, re-entered the street and collided with a Mercedes-Benz, police said.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal, two-vehicle crash reported Tuesday afternoon in Bartow County.

The call of the accident came into the agency around 4:30 p.m. Jan. 22. According to the agency, a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling southbound on Peeples Valley Road approaching Valleydale Drive as a 2016 Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle was going north on the same stretch of roadway.

A preliminary report indicates the Chevrolet left the east side of the road and struck several trees, the Georgia State Patrol added. The Chevrolet rotated, came back into the road and stuck the Mercedes.

The passenger inside the Chevrolet, 30-year-old Phillip D. Bagley of Cartersville, was pronounced dead at the scene. GSP's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting a follow-up investigation, and charges are pending those results.
